WHAT DO CHURCHILL, JFK, CSAPD, TRINITY COLLEGE, USA AND CANADA HAVE IN COMMON?

On November 16. 1957 a young rising Senator and future President John F Kennedy came to Trinity College at the University of Toronto to debate with Stephen Lewis the question of whether or not the United States was fulfilling its global leadership role in the world.  It was a historic debate and the question is as timely and relevant in 2026 as it was is in the era of JFK and in Canadian-American relations since then.

On Wednesday November 4, 2026 at 6:30 at Trinity College, the home of the Churchill Collection, The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy and Trinity College and the John W Graham Library will be hosting the launch of an exciting brand new book being released in November:  JFK’s Only Hero by Joel Nelson 

Author Joel Nelson is British writer and historian. He was an advisor to the Secretary of State for International Development, an editor at Foreign Affairs, a Director of European Policy at an AI-Think Tank in Washington, DC.  He has a first honours degree in history from Oxford University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge was he was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard University.  The author is on extensive tour starting in November and we are privileged that he is crossing the 49th Parallel for a special visit to Toronto to share his new book and to provide a lecture about two important and critical people who have shaped history and whose influence has been and remains timeless to the people of Canada, the US, the UK and Western Democracy in these critical times.
