Hart House Debate- Dinner Mar 16-2015

Annual Churchill Society Hart House debate/dinner Monday 16 March

The Society has a long-standing tradition of supporting the University of Toronto Hart House debates program through the annual sponsorship of an evening of dinner and lively debate on a topical public issue.  Members of the audience are encouraged to join in the post-debate discussion also.

This year’s resolution puts a bold question relating to Canada’s parliamentary process quite squarely:

RESOLVED THAT CANADA’S SENATE BE ABOLISHED.

Bringing his own comments to the post debate discussion will be Massey College Master and former Senator Hugh Segal, whose credentials on the matter draw from his personal experience both as observer and as participant.

Reception and dinner:Reception at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6 pm and Debate: 7:30 pm.
Resolution:BIRT the Canadian Senate should be abolished.
Guest speaker:Hon Hugh Segal.
